cis generally located in the kidney itself, but most of the time it manifests as a back pain. Further, kidney pain could extend to other parts of the body too. Usually, the kidney pain vanishes if the kidney infection gets cured. Pain due to a kidney stone also ceases to exist once the stone passes out or is removed by surgical or non-surgical methods. On the other hand, back pain remedy normally takes more time. Further, back pain could be mild, moderate, severe or chronic, while the kidney pain is always sharp and incisive.
For outward appearances, back pain symptoms are similar to the pain due to a kidney infection or kidney stone. But pressing on the area just above the kidneys could identify the back pain that is not caused by kidney problem. Moreover, kidney infection would include pain and/or emission of blood while urinating, fever, and shivering. Back pain would not have these symptoms.
Kidney pain is normally the outcome of either kidney infection or kidney stones. However, there are a few other causes that could cause kidney pain. A combination of kidney pain and blood in the urine is known as loin pain-haematuria syndrome or LPHS. This could be caused by an antibody called IgA getting stuck in the kidney while passing through the bloodstream. This would normally disappear on its own, but in rare occasions could damage the kidneys. Sometimes, the antibody might have been removed by treatment but the pain may persist for months.
If the kidney membrane, which filters the blood for making urine, becomes thin, the amount of blood passing through the membrane gets reduced. This condition could produce acute pain but is easily curable. There are cases when there is abnormal blood flow through the blood vessels in the kidney, resulting in acute pain like a cramp. This problem is seen more in women than in men. The pain due to this could last for years, even throughout your life, but it is not dangerous and does not lead to kidney failure. Causes for this are not fully known yet.
Kidney pain due to infection or stones or other reasons normally does not affect the breathing pattern. However, kidney failure could result in what is called pulmonary edema or formation of fluid in the lung tissues, creating breathing difficulties. This breathing trouble due to kidney pain could be remedied only by addressing the kidney failure. Back pains do not result in troubled breathing
Kidney pain that occurs due to the abovementioned problems normally manifests as lower back pain. A few of them are mild, while the others are severe or chronic. Hence, a proper diagnosis to identify the root cause of the problem is necessary, so that the treatment is given either to the kidney pain or the back pain, as the case may be.
