Statistics show that people visiting doctors due to back pain every year in the United States is only second to visits for flu and cold. This could be avoided if we take adequate precautions to prevent back pain. Reasons for the occurrence of back pain are innumerous. Significant among them are stomach pain induced back pain as well as abdominal related back pain. The subject of stomach pain differs a lot from the subject of abdomen pain. However, both stomach pain and abdominal pain invariably lead to back pain. As such, a clear understanding of the implications of these pains would help in overcoming back pain.
The abdomen is inclusive of several organs. The stomach, the end of the oesophagus, the liver, the pancreas, the small & large intestines, and the gallbladder are the organs of digestion. The aorta blood vessel, the appendix and the two kidneys are the other organs in the abdomen.
Abdominal pain can occur due to the following problems. Chronic constipation, viral gastroenteritis, irritable bowel syndrome, excessive gas, lactose intolerance, indigestion or heartburn, various types of ulcers, appendicitis, gastroesophageal reflux, and cholecystitis with or without gallstones are the major causes for abdominal pain. Hernia, kidney stones, urinary tract infections, bowel obstruction, ulcerative colitis, food allergy, and food poisoning are the other prime reasons for abdominal pain. Various types of cancer that form in the abdomen could also cause abdominal pain. Women have their own list of causes like menstrual cramps, ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, and pelvic inflammatory disease that lead to abdominal pain.
On the other hand, stomach pain is limited to the organs of digestion. Stomach pain comes out of overeating, irregular eating habits, eating unhealthy food like oily, fatty foods, eating contaminated or spoiled food, food allergy, food poisoning, and lactose intolerance, as well as problems in the liver, pancreas, and spleen. Stomach cancer is another grave threat. Stomach pain is part of abdominal pain.
Abdominal pain and stomach pain invariably extend to the lower back but they also spread to the upper back, shoulders, buttock, thighs and legs. Stomach pain leading to lower left quadrant or right quadrant back pain, stomach pain causing left upper back pain or right upper back pain, stomach pain resulting in shoulder pain and stomach pain spreading as left back pain or right back pain are all possible, if not treated as soon as possible. However, all these types of back pains normally disappear, after the stomach pain or the abdominal pain is addressed and cured properly. Still, it is not necessary to wait until the stomach pain or the abdominal pain transforms into various types of back pains. Immediate action in curing the stomach pain or the abdominal pain would prevent the incidence of such extensions of back pain problems.
To conclude, managing back pain should be part of your daily routine and not a random exercise after it sets in. Good food habits, regular exercising, correct sitting and standing postures, avoidance of excessive alcohol and smoking, etc. must be a life habit to prevent back pain and get rid of it at the earliest, if it occurs. The Doctor's advice and recommendations should be fully heeded.
